While GUM v14 was highly sought after, it carried heavy risks:
Garena fought back by upgrading its client software to scan running system processes for signature signatures matching known memory injectors. Simultaneously, community map developers took security into their own hands. Elite map designers implemented server-side verification scripts directly into custom maps. These scripts cross-referenced player actions; if a client ordered a hero to attack an enemy unit that should have been invisible due to the fog of war, the map script automatically triggered an internal desync, booting the offending player from the match.
