Upon his return, Stéphane is confronted by a startling revelation: Thomas has died young. He also meets Lucas, Thomas's adult son. Stéphane soon discovers that his invitation was orchestrated by Lucas, who has read all of his books and harbors his own questions about his father's mysterious and troubled life, including his eventual suicide.
