The peaceful existence on Bird Island is disrupted when a ship carrying a crew of green pigs, led by the charismatic Leonard (voiced by Bill Hader), arrives with promises of friendship and technology. While the other birds are charmed, Red remains deeply suspicious. His skepticism is confirmed when he discovers the pigs' true evil plan: they have been deceiving the birds in order to steal all of their unhatched eggs to bring back to Piggy Island and cook in a large vat. Initially mocked and ignored, Red, along with Chuck and Bomb, becomes the unlikely leader of a resistance mission, rallying the other birds to build a giant slingshot to launch themselves at Piggy Island to rescue their eggs, a direct homage to the gameplay of the original mobile game.
