Born on October 10, 1917, in Beckley, West Virginia, Ray Conniff began his musical career in the 1940s, leading his own band, The Bill Boyd Singers, on radio stations and in live performances. He later served in the United States Army during World War II, entertaining troops with his singing and playing skills. After the war, Conniff formed his own orchestra, The Ray Conniff Singers, which would become the flagship for his future recordings.
Continued his successful formula, both becoming gold albums.
