Los Caminantes are considered pioneers of the genre—a fusion of romantic ballads, cumbia, ranchera, and norteño music that became incredibly popular in the 1980s. Their debut album, Supe Perder , was released in 1983 on Luna Records. The album was a seismic success, with its title track and hits like "Para Que Quieres Volver" and "Dime Si Me Quieres" dominating the radio waves in Mexico and the US Hispanic market.
