Born Oleta Angela Adams in Seattle, Washington, on May 4, 1953, she is the daughter of a preacher and grew up surrounded by gospel music. Her family moved to Yakima, Washington, when she was six, where she quickly established herself as a musical prodigy. By the age of 11, she was already directing and accompanying four choirs.
Her big break came when Tears for Fears' Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith caught her performance. Impressed by her talent, they invited her to contribute piano, keyboards, and vocals to their 1989 album, The Seeds of Love , featuring her on the single "Woman in Chains". This exposure launched her career, leading to her signing with Fontana Records and the release of her major-label debut, Circle of One , in 1990. The album was a commercial smash, reaching number one on the UK charts, peaking at number 20 on the US Billboard 200, and achieving gold status in both countries. oleta+adams+discography+torrent+link
