In the summer of 1993, Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park shattered global box office records. Seeking to capitalize on the public's massive dinosaur obsession, legendary exploitation producer Roger Corman looked for a fast way to cash in. Rather than funding an expensive, high-tech copycat, Corman turned to B-movie directors Jim Wynorski and Fred Olen Ray.

The film opens with a classic setup: U.S. Army Captain Jason Briggs (Ross Hagen) is flying three misfit deserters home for a court-martial when engine trouble forces the plane to crash-land near an uncharted island.
